After three consecutive sporting events on TV, I decided to take a ride along the beach to release my frustrations from some not so good performances from the Dodgers and Lakers.

Wasn’t too sure where I wanted to start. The SouthBay bike trail starts in Redondo Beach and continues up the coast into Santa Monica. My starting point was El Segundo. I’ll admit this was my first physical activity since the LA Marathon. Yea, I know, big time laziness ensued since then.

The start of my ride was nice and quick. A bit chilly, but went away quickly the more I kept pedaling. Not many people out on the beach or on the path, as it was a windy and cloudy day, especially around the time I started which was around 4ish.

Stopped at a couple points along the ride to take in the view and snap a few pictures with my camera phone. Once I got to the marina, I decided to head back as it was getting dark and cold. Boy, the ride back sure wasn’t as fun. The headwind was pretty strong, it literally slowed my speed down by half.

During this point, I was messing around with the gears on the bike, trying to find the right balance. It definitely felt like I was not using the gears properly. I also noticed on the way back that my tire inflation was not where it should be. If I want to keep riding more, and I do, I better get my act together.

To get to back to my parked car, I had to do a nice little climb, not so much fun. I think I’ll stick to flat surfaces until I get up to par with my conditioning.

Nice short ride, next time I want to complete the whole South Bay trail from start to finish. Which should be a nice 40 mile ride.
